The Edith Irby Jones Chapter of the Student National Medical Association cordially invites minority undergraduate/non-traditional premedical students to the Minority Association of Premedical Students (MAPS) Conference. This is our annual signature event to promote diversity in medicine, by supporting college students from across the state with an interest in healthcare careers.

The conference is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will begin with registration & breakfast from 8-8:45 a.m., we will have an opening ceremony, & then the attendees will commence a day of interactive & informative sessions, such as Gap Year - MHSP Post-Baccalaureate Program, COM Admissions, speakers from College of Pharmacy, College of Public Health, Graduate School, College of Health Professions - Physician Assistant & Physical Therapy, Interviewing Tips, Black Men in Medicine, & MAPS Advisors. Additionally, students will participate in interactive activity breakout sessions, such as campus tours, Gross Anatomy Lab Tours, & Interactive Demonstrations. We will host a panel discussion with current students, being able to share their experiences & answer questions from the attendees, over lunch. The breakout sessions will be spread throughout the day, with the closing ceremony concluding, with giveaways, acknowledgments, & our closing speaker. Overall, students will have the opportunity to network with current students & faculty, as well as learn about current programs and opportunities to cultivate their future careers in medicine.

As this will be our first in-person conference since 2019, we are seeking to cultivate a phenomenal experience for all attendees & their faculty advisors. Please share this information with all students that can benefit from this experience.
