U.S. Senator John Boozman introduced former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, where Huckabee was nominated to serve as U.S. Ambassador to Israel. Boozman highlighted his long-standing relationship with Huckabee and expressed confidence in his leadership abilities.
"It is an honor to be here today to introduce my friend and fellow Arkansan – Governor Mike Huckabee, President Trump’s nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Israel," Boozman stated during the hearing.
Boozman mentioned that Senator Cotton also supported Huckabee's nomination, saying, "I know Senator Cotton would have liked to be here too... what a great ambassador he thinks Gov. Huckabee would make."
He acknowledged the presence of Huckabee's family and friends at the hearing, noting their support for him: "We all know these are family affairs, whether it’s us or people that serve in other aspects of government."
Boozman emphasized the significance of this moment in history for both countries: "This is a pivotal moment in history, not just for our country, but for Israel and the special relationship between our nations."
He praised Huckabee's qualifications and familiarity with Israel: "Mike is not only qualified to serve as our ambassador to Israel, but he is uniquely suited for this role given the way he has championed Israel throughout his entire life."
Boozman concluded by expressing strong support for Huckabee's nomination: "I strongly support his nomination and urge my colleagues to do the same, as does my colleague Sen. Cotton from Arkansas."
