U.S. Senator John Boozman has been honored with the Boys & Girls Club of America 2025 Champion of Youth Award. The award recognizes his advocacy for legislation aimed at combating childhood hunger and supporting programs that provide meals to children without cost to their families.
Boozman, who grew up attending Jeffrey’s Boys Club in Fort Smith, reflected on the club's impact on his life. He emphasized the importance of providing a safe environment for children and teens to grow and reach their potential. "As a former participant myself, I know firsthand how the organization can positively change lives by providing a safe, supportive and fun environment for kids and teens to grow and reach their full potential," said Boozman.
The award was presented by Beth Presley, CEO of Fort Smith Boys & Girls Clubs, during the organization's National Days of Advocacy event on Capitol Hill. Presley expressed gratitude for Boozman's ongoing support: “It was an incredible honor to present Senator John Boozman with the Boys & Girls Club Champion of Youth Award... His dedication to ensuring that all children have access to the opportunities, resources, and mentorship they need to succeed is truly inspiring."
Missy Dugan, Senior Vice President of Government Relations for Boys & Girls Clubs of America, also praised Boozman's efforts: "We are especially grateful for his work to prevent childhood hunger which has enabled Clubs in Arkansas and around the country to provide more meals and snacks to youth at no charge to their families."
In his role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry and co-chair of the Senate Hunger Caucus, Boozman has supported initiatives such as modernizing USDA summer meals programs. These efforts aim to increase access to food-insecure children when school is not in session.
