Rep. French Hill of Arkansas issued a statement following President Trump's joint address to Congress. This marks President Trump's first such address since taking office as the 47th President of the United States.
In his statement, Rep. Hill highlighted key points from the President's speech: "Tonight, President Trump laid out how he is delivering on his promises to the American people. From prioritizing border security and economic prosperity to increasing government efficiency and restoring America's strong stance on the world stage, President Trump is making America strong, secure, and competitive again."
Rep. Hill also expressed honor in welcoming Tigran Gambaryan as his guest at the event. Gambaryan is an American citizen who was detained in Nigeria for nine months before being released. Rep. Hill stated, "Tigran’s story is one of resilience, and I was proud to play a role in securing his release." As Co-Chair of the Hostage Task Force in the House, he emphasized ongoing efforts with the administration to bring home Americans wrongfully detained abroad.
The Congressman concluded by praising what he sees as a new era under Trump's leadership: "President Trump’s leadership is ushering in a new era of American prosperity, and I look forward to continuing my work with him to deliver on our promises to central Arkansans and all Americans."
