U.S. Senator John Boozman from Arkansas has announced his support for the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, a legislative initiative introduced by Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama. The bill is co-sponsored by Boozman, Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas, and 33 other senators.

The proposed legislation aims to ensure that schools do not allow males to share private spaces with females or compete in women's sports as a condition for receiving federal funding. This act seeks to counter previous regulations like the Biden administration's Title IX Rule, which it claims prioritized gender ideology over the interests of women and girls.

"Millions of young girls have benefited from the opportunity to pursue athletic achievement since the enactment of Title IX," Boozman stated. "It’s common sense to expect a safe environment and fair competition for them still today. I’m pleased to join my colleagues on this effort to uphold the integrity of women’s and girls’ sports and their right to privacy."

The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act specifically:

- Ensures that Title IX provisions treat sex as "recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth."

- Prohibits recipients of federal funding from operating, sponsoring, or facilitating athletic programs that allow males to participate in women's sporting events.

Companion legislation has already passed in the U.S. House of Representatives with a vote count of 218-206. All four members of the Arkansas Congressional Delegation supported the bill.
