U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Ranking Member John Boozman has announced the appointment of Brad Weddelman as the chief economist for committee Republicans.
"Brad’s background in economics will play a crucial role as the committee develops and advances policies to strengthen rural America and provide our farmers, ranchers and agriculture community with the tools they need to be successful and continue to produce a safe, affordable and abundant supply of food. I’m pleased to welcome him aboard," Boozman stated.
Weddelman comes to the agriculture committee after more than seven years as chief economist at an agricultural advocacy firm. Prior to his time in Washington, he was a teaching and research assistant at Texas A&M University's Agricultural and Food Policy Center.
He holds a Master of Science degree in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Toledo.
