U.S. Senator John Boozman of Arkansas, alongside Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa and all 46 Republican colleagues in the Senate, has marked the first anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attacks that resulted in the deaths of dozens of Americans. The senators plan to introduce a resolution condemning Iran-backed Hamas for its actions, advocating for Israel's enduring security, and urging the safe release of American hostages.

The Senate Republican Conference expressed unity in opposing violent antisemitic protests and condemned Hamas' use of rape as a weapon of war. They emphasized Israel’s right to self-defense and highlighted the necessity to prevent Hamas from regaining strength in the region to avoid a recurrence of such tragic events.

"Hamas’ brutal attack on innocent victims will never be forgotten," stated Boozman. "As families still wait to be reunited with loved ones captured one year ago, our resolve is unwavering to bring these hostages home. The United States stands with Israel, one of our closest friends and allies, as it continues to defend itself and its people. I remain committed to supporting our partner in its fight against Iran-backed terrorists."

Ernst recalled her experience last year: “This time last year, I woke up in the Middle East to the unbearable news that Israel was under attack by Iran-backed terrorists and Americans were being killed and taken hostage,” she said. She noted her immediate travel into Israel as a demonstration of unwavering friendship between nations during challenging times. Ernst further commented on her ongoing efforts across different locations—Jerusalem, Washington, or Iowa—to hold the White House accountable for its commitment, facilitate the return of hostages, and disrupt terrorism sources in Tehran.

"One year since that day," Ernst continued, "as Israel remains under attack on all fronts, Senate Republicans stand united with our greatest ally in the Middle East."
