House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill has commented on the recent announcement by Michael Barr, who intends to resign from his position as Federal Reserve Vice Chair for Supervision. Barr will continue to serve on the Board of Governors.

Chairman Hill expressed his views in a statement, saying, “I was pleased to learn that Michael Barr is stepping down from his role as the Federal Reserve’s top bank regulator. I look forward to working with President Trump’s choice for Fed Vice Chair for Supervision. It’s my preference that his nominee is committed to tailoring bank regulatory policies and implementing a balanced approach to prudential supervision.”

The transition at the Federal Reserve comes at a time when financial regulatory policies are under scrutiny, and there is anticipation regarding who will be nominated next for this critical supervisory role.
