Happy Friday, everyone! It’s time for another round of results from last week’s auctions.
We held just two auctions last week. As a reminder, we’re offering two years’ worth of parcels at this year’s auctions, to catch up from time lost due to Covid.
At the Polk County auction, 28 bidders registered. They purchased 19 of the 23 parcels delinquent since 2016, paying just over 13,000 in delinquent taxes and fees. Competitive bidding raised the total to just over $69,000 – the third-highest total we’ve ever had for Polk County. Bidders also purchased 18 of the 21 parcels delinquent since 2017. Those parcels produced almost $34,700, including almost $11,000 in delinquent amounts.
The Montgomery County auction had 40 bidders. They paid $56,000 to purchase all four parcels delinquent since 2016, including $3,650 in delinquent taxes and fees. They purchased seven of the eight parcels delinquent since 2017. Delinquent amounts on those parcels totaled $2,960, and competitive bidding brought in an additional $105,000 – a record-setting number for Montgomery County.
So far this year, we’ve sold 53 percent of parcels offered. Owners have 10 business days after the auction to redeem the property. For the auctions past the redemption deadline, 29 percent have been redeemed.
Parcels not sold at auction will appear in our online list of unsold properties, 30 days after the auction date. The online auction, along with tutorial videos, can be found at auction.cosl.org.
