UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS FOR MEDICAL SCIENCES: Do you remember card catalogs in libraries?

Library(1000)

University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences issued the following announcement on Feb. 20

The UAMS Library used a print catalog until 1988 when we moved to the online version.

The wooden cabinets holding the many drawers for the 3 x 5 inch printed catalog cards took up the space on the 1st floor of the Library between the Circulation Desk and the entry to the Active Learning Center where the round wooden tables stand now.

National Library of Medicine

Dr. Stephen Greenberg, Head of Rare Books and Early Manuscripts at the National Library of Medicine’s History of Medicine Division provides an interesting look back at the print card catalog.
