The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced the launch of the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program, following approval by Congress in December. This initiative aims to support American farm families during the current agricultural season.

U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Chairman John Boozman expressed his support for the program’s rollout. “Congress approved this critical funding to provide a bridge to help ensure hardworking American farm families can continue operations this season while we craft an updated Farm Bill,” Boozman stated. He emphasized the importance of timely distribution of funds by USDA to assist farmers, ranchers, and producers in maintaining their operations.

Producers are eligible to apply for assistance starting Wednesday, March 19. The USDA’s Farm Service Agency will distribute pre-filled applications to those who have submitted acreage reports for 2024 eligible commodities. Applications must be completed either in-person or online by August 15, 2025.

Boozman acknowledged Secretary Rollins for her swift action in implementing the program and expressed his eagerness to collaborate further in supporting farmers’ needs.
