Senator John Boozman, U.S. Senator from Arkansas, addressed several national and state issues in a series of posts on November 4, 2025.
In a tribute to the former vice president, Boozman wrote, “Vice President Dick Cheney devoted his life to public service and national security, including fiercely championing America’s leadership abroad. He also loved his family dearly and leaves behind a legacy they and our country will long remember. Cathy and I send our sincere” (posted November 4, 2025).
Later that day, Boozman commented on ongoing legislative efforts to address the government shutdown: “.@SenateGOP has now voted 14 times to reopen the government, pay federal workers, ensure food assistance reaches Americans in need and ensure safe + efficient air travel. We need 5 more Democrats to do the responsible thing and support the clean CR.” (posted November 4, 2025).
He also expressed appreciation for state leadership while criticizing Senate Democrats’ approach: “Thankful for the Governor’s leadership and heart for vulnerable Arkansans.
They should not be Senate Democrats’ hostages or leverage.” (posted November 4, 2025).
These statements come amid ongoing negotiations in Congress over a continuing resolution (CR) aimed at ending a government shutdown. Continuing resolutions are temporary spending bills used by Congress to fund federal agencies when formal appropriations have not been signed into law. The impasse has resulted in halted government services and delayed payments for federal workers until an agreement is reached.
Senator Boozman’s remarks reflect broader Republican efforts to pressure Democratic senators into supporting measures intended to restore full government operations.
