U.S. Senator John Boozman of Arkansas, who serves on the Environment and Public Works Committee, addressed key issues for Arkansas during a recent hearing. The hearing scrutinized the nominations of Brian Nesvik to lead the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and Jessica Kramer for the role of Assistant Administrator of the Office of Water at the Environmental Protection Agency. Boozman emphasized Arkansas’s concerns regarding wildlife management, wetland conservation, and water infrastructure.

During his interaction with Brian Nesvik, Boozman, who is also on the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission, highlighted the stability of duck populations in Arkansas. This stability, he pointed out, is greatly due to duck hunters’ dedication to wetland and waterfowl conservation. Boozman asked Nesvik about his plans for sustaining the Migratory Bird Program and how he proposes to promote outdoor activities like hunting and fishing through the National Wildlife Refuge System.

Moreover, Boozman drew attention to the water infrastructure problems affecting Arkansas and other regions. He urged Jessica Kramer to consider reducing bureaucratic hurdles, enhancing flexibility, and working with local and state officials to advance and upgrade drinking water and irrigation systems. Boozman stressed the importance of modernizing these systems to better support the needs of local communities.
