The Little Rock Trojans are set to play a crucial three-game series against league-leading SIUE starting Friday night, April 10, at Roy E. Lee Field in Edwardsville, Illinois. The matchup has significant implications for the Ohio Valley Conference standings, with SIUE currently holding first place and Little Rock tied for second with Eastern Illinois.
The series will begin Friday at 6 p.m., followed by games on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. All three contests will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
Little Rock enters the weekend with a record of 19-13 overall and a conference mark of 7-2, while SIUE stands at 16-16 overall and leads the OVC with an 8-1 record. The Trojans have had success in the all-time series against SIUE, leading it by a margin of 12-6.
“We’re really looking forward to the opportunity,” Little Rock head coach Chris Curry said. “With both teams off to a good starting conference play, it should be a very competitive series. SIUE is well-coached and has a great offensive approach. And I know our team will be tested. I’m excited to see how we step up to this challenge.”
Key performers for Little Rock include Kade Smith, who ranks third in hitting within the OVC with a .374 batting average, and redshirt junior pitcher Nic Bronzini, who is scheduled as Sunday’s starter after strong outings against Ole Miss and Arkansas where he allowed just two hits and one earned run across both starts.
SIUE comes into the matchup after opening conference play with an eight-game winning streak—the best start in program history—and leads the league in home runs with 56 so far this season. Ryan Niedzwiedz tops both his team and much of the nation with fourteen home runs this year.
Following this road stretch—part of a nine-game trip—the Trojans will travel to Louisiana Tech before returning home next weekend for another important conference matchup against Eastern Illinois.
