The Little Rock Trojans men’s baseball team will finish a nine-game road trip with a matchup against Louisiana Tech on April 14. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park in Ruston, Louisiana.
This contest marks the last away game before the Trojans return home to Gary Hogan Field. The Trojans hold a record of 20-16, while the Bulldogs stand at 21-16 and are currently fifth in Conference USA with a conference record of 9-6. Louisiana Tech enters the matchup riding a six-game winning streak.
Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series between these teams, holding a record of 61 wins to Little Rock’s 26 since their first meeting in 1976. Head coach Chris Curry said, “We’re looking forward to another challenging midweek contest. Louisiana Tech is always well coached and is a tradition-rich program. We expect a hard-fought game and are grateful for the opportunity.”
After this road game, Little Rock will return home for an important Ohio Valley Conference series against Eastern Illinois starting Friday evening, followed by games on Saturday and Sunday. The Panthers are tied for first place in their conference standings.
Junior transfer Brannon Westmoreland recently had one of his best pitching performances during Friday’s win over SIUE, allowing just three hits over nearly eight innings and retiring nine consecutive batters during his outing. Nic Bronzini also made his first conference start Sunday against SIUE, recording five strikeouts across three innings as part of a planned short appearance.
Louisiana Tech has maintained momentum by winning two out of three games at FIU, defeating Northwestern State midweek, and sweeping Middle Tennessee at home recently. Graduate infielder Colby Lunsford leads the Bulldogs with a .314 batting average along with nine home runs and thirty-two runs batted in (RBI). Sophomore Trey Hawsey leads the team with ten home runs—tied for third-most in Conference USA—and shares the team lead in RBI.
