After a comeback victory against SIUE on Thursday night, the Little Rock Trojans men’s basketball team is preparing for another challenge as they face Lindenwood in St. Charles, Missouri. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Hyland Arena.
Little Rock has won four of its last five games and currently holds a 6-10 overall record with a 3-2 mark in Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) play. Lindenwood enters the matchup with a 10-6 record and is 4-1 in conference action after starting OVC play with four straight wins before falling to SIUE earlier this week.
The all-time series between Little Rock and Lindenwood is tied at three games each.
Reflecting on the recent win, Little Rock head coach Darrell Walker said, “I was proud of our response Thursday night. We fell behind but never quit, and that resilience helped us pull out the win. We’ll rest, regroup, and get ready for a very good Lindenwood team. I like where we are right now.”
In Thursday’s game against SIUE, Little Rock overcame a 15-point deficit with 18 minutes remaining and was still down by 12 points with just over ten minutes left before rallying to secure the victory. Johnathan Lawson played the entire game, scoring a game-high 23 points along with five assists while making all ten of his free throw attempts. Kachi Nzeh contributed by hitting a career-best four three-pointers and finishing with 15 points.
Defensively, after allowing SIUE to make seven of twelve three-point attempts in the first half, Little Rock limited them to two of ten from beyond the arc in the second half.
Lindenwood features Jadis Jones, who ranks second in rebounds per game (8.2) and fourth in scoring (16.5 points per game) within the OVC. Jones also leads the conference in field-goal percentage at 64.8 percent, which places him eleventh nationally. As a team during conference play, Lindenwood leads the OVC in rebounds per game (39.6) and defensive three-point percentage (28.6 percent). Dontrez Williams has improved his performance during league contests and currently sits third among OVC scorers over five games at an average of 18.2 points per contest while ranking fifth overall in field-goal percentage (47 percent). Clayton Jackson leads all players in assist-to-turnover ratio during conference play at 2.83.
