Little Rock will travel to Macomb, Illinois, for a three-game Ohio Valley Conference baseball series against Western Illinois beginning Friday, April 3. The series, originally scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, has been moved to a Friday-Sunday format due to weather concerns.
The Trojans enter the weekend with a record of 17-12 overall and 5-1 in conference play, currently tied for second place in the OVC. Western Illinois holds a 7-20 overall record and is seventh in the league standings. Despite their position, Western Illinois recently secured a win over conference leader SEMO last weekend.
Head coach Chris Curry said, “We are looking forward to a great series at Western Illinois. It should be a tough battle. They are very well coached, and it’s another challenging road test in the OVC.”
In previous meetings between the two teams, Little Rock leads the all-time series with seven wins and two losses and has only lost once when playing in Macomb since May 4, 2024. For this upcoming matchup, notable players from Western Illinois include Wandel Campana—who ranks third in batting average within the conference at .388—and Liam Bushey—second in both runs batted in (37) and home runs (10) among OVC players.
Recent performances from Little Rock feature Nolan Freund leading Tuesday’s game at Ole Miss by going three-for-five with one run batted in as part of the team’s thirteen-hit outing. Cooper Chaplain brings a six-game hitting streak into this weekend’s games while Brigden Parker stands seventh among conference pitchers with an earned run average of 3.24.
The Trojans are currently on an extended nine-game road stretch and will continue their travels next week with a game at Arkansas following their visit to Macomb.
