Little Rock lost a closely contested baseball game to Lindenwood by a score of 3-2 on April 25 at the Lou Brock Sports Complex. The Trojans matched Lindenwood with six hits and played error-free defense, but were unable to convert key scoring opportunities throughout the game.
The outcome highlights how missed chances can be decisive in tight matchups. Head coach Chris Curry said, “I just told the team that game wasn’t won and lost there in the ninth inning. It was decided way before then with the amount of runners we left on base.”
Little Rock took an early lead with a run in the second inning and maintained it deep into the contest thanks to strong pitching performances. However, several situations with runners in scoring position did not result in additional runs for the Trojans. “We had opportunities early – bases loaded with nobody out—and only came away with one run,” Curry said. “We had lead-off runners on second base a couple of times and didn’t move them. That’s where the game got away from us.” Lindenwood tied the score in the fifth inning before adding runs late to take control.
Despite falling behind, Little Rock rallied for a run in the ninth inning and pressured Lindenwood until the final out, showing resilience even as they fell short.
Curry praised his pitchers’ efforts: “You can’t blame this one on the pitching – we pitched plenty good enough to win.” Brigden Parker started for Little Rock, allowing just one run over four and two-thirds innings while striking out five batters. Gage Haley followed from the bullpen, working through a bases-loaded situation and striking out six over three and one-third innings.
“I thought Brigden was outstanding, and Gage came in and did a great job in a big situation,” Curry said. “Those guys gave us every chance.” The teams will meet again tomorrow at Lou Brock Sports Complex for their series finale.
Looking ahead, Curry said, “We’re ready to come out tomorrow with [Nic Bronzini] on the mound and win the series.”
