Little Rock Men’s Golf will compete in the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional beginning May 17, aiming for a spot in the NCAA Championships. The event will take place at Bermuda Run Country Club’s East Course in North Carolina, with the top five teams after 54 holes advancing to the national championship later this month.
The Trojans enter the regional following their second consecutive Ohio Valley Conference championship and have performed well against strong competition throughout the season. Head Coach Austin Eoff said, “Looking forward to the week out in North Carolina to punch our ticket to the national championship. All the guys have been working hard on different things. I have not seen the course in person yet but it looks like wedge play and scoring will be a priority this week but we will see once we get on property.” He added, “One of the biggest things this time of year is belief and confidence on the next shot and that will be our focus during the tournament to put us in a position on Wednesday to accomplish another one of our goals this season.”
The team features OVC Player of the Year Ed Featherstone along with All-OVC selections Rhett South, Viggo Talasmaki, and Elliott Simonsen. Featherstone said earlier this season, “We know what we’re capable of when we play our game. Everybody believes in each other, and we’ve shown all year we can compete with anybody.” South also spoke about how challenging matches have prepared them: “We’ve been battle-tested all year,” South said. “We’ve put ourselves in tough situations against really good teams, and I think that’s prepared us for this moment.”
Throughout their season, Little Rock achieved several top-five finishes against nationally ranked opponents and set records at Purdue’s Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex during their conference championship run.
The regional field includes 13 teams and 10 individuals vying for a place at nationals. Play begins Monday morning with one round each day through Wednesday; live scoring is available online as well as streaming coverage starting daily at 6:50 a.m.
