Overnight closures are planned for Highway 67/167, also known as Interstate 57, in Jacksonville. The construction aims to widen the highway to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard. The work necessitates full highway and frontage road closures in 15-minute intervals from 8 p.m. Sunday, June 29, through 6 a.m. Monday, June 30, and again from 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, through 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 9.
On June 29 and June 30, weather permitting, crews will halt traffic intermittently on all northbound lanes of Highway 67/167 and TP White Drive between North James Street and Vandenberg Boulevard to perform bridge work. Similar closures will occur on July 8 and July 9 for southbound lanes of Highway 67/167 and John Harden Drive between Vandenberg Boulevard and North James Street.
Additionally, both northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 67/167 will be reduced to one lane overnight (from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) during these periods: Friday night, June 27 through Wednesday morning, July 2; and Monday night, July 7 through Friday morning, July 18.
Traffic management will include police assistance along with message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and signage. Motorists should expect delays and exercise caution in the work zone due to slower traffic speeds.
This project is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program (Job CA0604) which involves widening a stretch of Highway 67 to six lanes over a distance of approximately two-and-a-half miles from Main Street (Exit 9) to Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11). It also includes improvements at several interchanges: James Street (Exit 10A), Gregory Street (Exit 10B), Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11), as well as converting frontage roads from two-way to one-way traffic.
