The right to keep and bear arms has been a cornerstone of American law and tradition, explicitly stated in the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. A lawmaker, emphasizing their unwavering support for law-abiding citizens to own firearms for various purposes, has outlined their efforts and initiatives aimed at securing Second Amendment rights.
In the 119th Congress, the lawmaker and colleagues have been active in promoting bills to reinforce these rights. One such proposal is the “Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act,” which aims to allow individuals with concealed carry permits in one state to have those rights honored in other states that permit concealed carry, similar to how driver’s licenses are treated.
Another bill, the “Traveler’s Gun Rights Act,” addresses issues faced by potential firearms owners—such as RV-ers, active-duty military, and military spouses—who rely on a P.O. Box for their primary mailing address and encounter difficulties obtaining firearms due to the lack of a physical address. The proposal would require the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to allow transactions for these individuals.
Efforts to expand access to firearms and accessories include the “Hearing Protection Act,” which seeks to make suppressors more accessible to preserve hearing and enhance safety. Furthermore, the “Repealing Illegal Freedom and Liberty Excises (RIFLE) Act,” supported by the lawmaker and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR), intends to remove taxes and bureaucratic barriers imposed on items regulated by the National Firearms Act.
The lawmaker is also addressing challenges faced by firearms manufacturers, urging the Trump administration to revoke a rule from the previous administration that restricts firearm exports for law-abiding manufacturers. Initiatives such as the “Fair Access to Banking Act” have been introduced to prevent financial institutions from denying services to lawful industries, including firearms and ammunition companies.
In addition, the “Veterans Second Amendment Protection Act” aims to protect veterans’ rights to purchase and own firearms even if they receive assistance in managing Department of Veterans Affairs benefits, aiming to reverse current interpretations that restrict these rights.
The lawmaker remains committed to defending the Second Amendment, asserting that disarming law-abiding citizens does not effectively reduce crime. Their efforts are focused on upholding these rights for all citizens, particularly those in Arkansas.
