Little Rock sophomore Ed Featherstone was named Ohio Valley Conference Male Golfer of the Week on Apr. 23 following his performance at the Hoosier Invitational at Indiana University’s Pfau Course.
Featherstone, from Sheringham, England, tied for 12th place in a field of 88 players. He recorded rounds of 75, 70, and 74 for a total score of 219 (+5), finishing just two shots outside the top five and six behind the individual winner.
“It is great to see Ed get another Golfer of the Week award for his third of the season,” Little Rock head coach Austin Eoff said. “The event at Indiana was incredibly difficult. He did a really solid job of managing his emotions over the 54 holes and controlling the variables he could control, and grinded out pars.”
This recognition marks Featherstone’s seventh Top-15 finish this season. He currently leads all Ohio Valley Conference golfers with a stroke average of 70.7.
Reflecting on his play during the tournament, Featherstone said: “I stayed patient all week and tried to focus on one shot at a time. The course and conditions were tough, but I felt like I did a good job of staying composed and giving myself chances.”
Featherstone’s efforts contributed to Little Rock securing fourth place among fifteen teams competing in Bloomington.
The Trojans are now preparing for their next challenge at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships scheduled for April 26-29 in West Lafayette.
