U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Chairman John Boozman has expressed his approval following the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s announcement regarding disaster assistance for farmers and ranchers affected by weather-related losses in 2023 and 2024.
In a statement, Boozman emphasized the significant challenges faced by agricultural producers due to severe weather conditions and natural disasters. He stated, “Farmers and ranchers in Arkansas and across the country have faced relentless challenges in recent years including severe weather and natural disasters. This assistance is a critical step to help producers recover and continue feeding and fueling the world.”
Boozman highlighted the resilience of America’s producers while acknowledging the devastating impact of recent natural disasters on farm families. He remarked that this assistance would be instrumental in maintaining a strong agriculture industry.
He also commended the USDA for its efforts to distribute these resources promptly: “I appreciate USDA’s work to get these resources out the door quickly and efficiently.”
The USDA will start accepting applications from Thursday, July 10 at local FSA offices, with prefilled applications being sent directly to producers.
