Little Rock’s Nic Bronzini was named Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, according to a May 4 announcement from the league. The recognition comes after Bronzini delivered eight shutout innings in a 4-0 victory over Morehead State.
The award highlights Bronzini’s performance on Sunday, where he allowed only four singles, walked two batters, and struck out eight. He maintained control throughout the game by retiring 20 of the first 23 batters he faced. In a critical moment during the eighth inning with bases loaded and no outs, Bronzini struck out one batter and then induced an inning-ending double play to keep Morehead State scoreless.
“We’re so proud of how hard Nic has worked to earn this award,” Little Rock head coach Chris Curry said. “He is pitching with confidence and giving us a chance to win every Sunday. Nic is very deserving of this honor.”
Bronzini attributed his recent success to maintaining consistency in his preparation and approach. “I have kept the same routine through the good or bad and just stuck with it,” Bronzini said. “I am here to pitch in any role. If [Curry] wants me to pitch on Tuesday, I will pitch on Tuesday. Whatever I need to do, I will do.” The California native now holds two wins for the season.
Little Rock is scheduled to face Arkansas State at Gary Hogan Field at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
